The HERO7 Black and HERO6 Black are internally almost identical GoPro models. The only notable difference in shooting performance lies in the supported frame rates for 2.7K resolution. With the same built-in chipset, image sensor size, and lens aperture, these two cameras can essentially be considered the same.
However, the HERO7 Black introduced HyperSmooth, GoPro’s proprietary image stabilization technology that later became a hallmark feature. Although not as advanced as the latest HyperSmooth versions, it provides significantly better stabilization than the HERO6 Black, enabling smoother video recording.
Additionally, the HERO7 Black supports live streaming, which is a notable difference in functionality.

In terms of hardware, features such as the front display and mounting methods are nearly identical. One notable distinction is the supported microSD card capacity:

- HERO6 Black: up to 128GB

Since both models share the same chipset and sensor, their body dimensions are identical, and the weight difference is a mere 2 grams. This makes them effectively the same in terms of size and portability.
