The HERO10 Black is four generations newer than the HERO (2018), with vastly superior shooting specs. It supports 5K resolution and can record at 5K/60fps, while resolutions below 4K offer 120fps or even 240fps. On the other hand, the HERO (2018) maxes out at Full HD with a frame rate of 60fps, making the two models almost incomparable in terms of performance.
Shooting features also differ greatly, particularly image stabilization. The HERO10 Black is equipped with "HyperSmooth 4.0," which includes 45-degree horizon leveling. In contrast, the HERO (2018) only has standard stabilization, resulting in a significant difference in performance.
Other notable features include loop recording and live streaming, both unavailable on the HERO (2018).
Body Features: HERO10 Black Offers More Versatility
The HERO10 Black includes a front color display, enabling preview while shooting from the front. It also features a built-in folding mount, allowing accessory attachment without the need for a case.
The folding mount is particularly advantageous, as it eliminates the size and weight increase associated with external cases, making it a crucial factor for practical use.

For those prioritizing lightweight designs, the HERO (2018) may appeal. However, its successor offers better performance, and the HERO10 Black, now more affordable as a used option, is arguably a better choice.
