The Video Recording Specs Are the Same
Although HERO12 Black and HERO10 Black are two generations apart, the video recording specs are actually the same. Therefore, there's no need to upgrade just for better video recording specs.
However, the resolution for still photos (photography) is higher on HERO12 Black at 27.6 MP compared to 23 MP on HERO10 Black, a difference of about 20%.
Image Stabilization Supported Resolutions and Modes Differ
HERO12 Black features "HyperSmooth 6.01" while HERO10 Black has "HyperSmooth 4.02".
Both versions of HyperSmooth have automatic boost and horizon lock features, but "HyperSmooth 6.0" offers advanced stabilization across high resolutions, slow motion, and time-lapse modes. Despite having similar specs, "HyperSmooth 6.0" is said to be smoother and more powerful, almost like a gimbal, due to algorithm updates.
Bluetooth Audio Support
HERO12 Black is the first model to support Bluetooth audio, allowing wireless voice control. You can now operate the GoPro using a Bluetooth microphone or wireless earbuds like AirPods, enabling completely hands-free shooting.

Professional Features Differ
HERO12 Black offers "wireless timecode sync" for multiple HERO12 cameras, allowing synchronized footage when shooting with multiple GoPros.
Additionally, HERO12 Black supports 10-bit color in Log mode. While Log shooting isn't commonly used for general purposes, it's a valuable feature for professional use in post-production, making HERO12 Black a strong asset for serious video shooting.
