GoPro Fusion (2018)

Equipped with two wide-angle cameras, enabling 360-degree video recording

The biggest feature of the GoPro Fusion (2018) is that it supports 360° video shooting for the first time in GoPro's lineup. In other words, it is a full-sphere camera.

By shooting simultaneously with the front and rear wide-angle cameras and compositing the footage, it is possible to capture full 360° panoramic video. In addition, since the camera records in 360°, it provides an immersive experience as if you were actually there.

Image stabilization can be added later with a dedicated app

The GoPro series is equipped with GoPro's unique image stabilization system called "HyperSmooth." The full-sphere models feature "Max HyperSmooth," which is optimized for 360-degree video. However, as the name indicates, 360-degree stabilization built into the camera body was first introduced with the successor model, the GoPro Max. The GoPro Fusion itself does not have built-in stabilization.

That said, stabilization can be added using "Fusion Studio" or a smartphone app.

No LCD display, so checking footage requires a smartphone or PC

GoPro Fusion is equipped only with a monochrome display for showing shooting information. Unlike other GoPro models, it lacks a back display, so footage verification must be done via an app on a smartphone or PC.

This can be considered a major drawback of the GoPro Fusion. When shooting in 360°, adjustments such as "How much of the scene is being captured?" need to be made in advance by adjusting the mount.
